EXTERIOR PAINTING IN KENOSHA WISCONSIN

One of our last exterior painting projects we completed in 2015 was on 7th Avenue in the historical district of Kenosha, Wisconsin. The homeowners contacted us very early in the year and decided to wait until late fall. The homeowners were referred to us by a lawyer whose office we had painted earlier in the year.

When we finally started the project the owners decided were very accommodating and had decided to keep the colors the same. We did find some rotted wood and quickly referred a local carpenter to them who could tend to their needs. Being a historical home the repairs were above and beyond our on-staff carpenter’s ability with the detail required and custom cuts. The home also required a good amount of caulk so we could assure all the gaps were sealed and no water could penetrate. We had two guys who we in charge of scraping and making sure there was no loose or peeling paint remaining before we started priming. We used an oil-based primer by Zinsser. We also had to glaze the majority of the wood window panes prior to painting as a lot of them were chipped and or missing. The finish coat applied was Sherwin Williams Super paint with a satin finish.

We also have some other challenges as this was a lead paint project. So we had to make sure to follow all the rules set forth by the Epa. We had to fight the winds also being so close to Lake Michigan.

In closing of the project, the homeowners of the project were extremely happy with the end result. We double-check all the surfaces being painted were prepared properly and the windows were all glazed and looked great, which I did personally. The Green and cream colors worked out great and fit the historical home great. We also warranty all of our exterior painting projects for a time of three years. All projects are set up in our database to have an annual inspection by either the owner or an estimator so we can ensure our residential painting project will last for years to come.
